Finally! The full reopening of Line 9 of the CDMX Metro was carried out at the Pantitlán, Puebla and Ciudad Deportiva stations, which had remained closed for several months due to re-leveling works.
The reopening ceremony on Tuesday, September 10 was attended by the Head of Government of Mexico City, Martí Batres; the head of the Ministry of Mobility, Andrés Lajous; and the director of the Metro, Guillermo Calderón.
During the press conference, the director of the CDMX Metro gave the ‘go-ahead’ to open the closed section from Pantitlán to Ciudad Deportiva.
Andrés Lajous, head of Semovi, highlighted the mobility alternatives offered to users during the time in which the works were carried out. Alternative routes for Metrobús, Trolebús and RTP trucks were enabled to speed up transfers.

“The tests were carried out before it was put into operation. The surface area worked on is more than 3 thousand square meters. This achieves the re-leveling of Metro Line 9, which had more than one meter of differentiation and it was unsustainable to continue re-leveling it with the use of ballast,” explained the head of the capital government. Martí Batres added that the main beneficiaries will be the users in the east of CDMX.
Why did they close Line 9 of the CDMX Metro?
It was in November 2023 when the closure of three stations on Line 9 of the CDMX Metro was announced due to the regional subsidence of the area that affected the elevated section.
As part of the leveling works, 72 tensioners and 22 struts were installed on the elevated section connecting Pantitlán and Puebla station.
The director of the CDMX Metro added that 520 sleepers, 2 thousand cubic meters of ballast and 120 insulating joints were replaced, as well as the review and calibration of three track-changing devices.
