Dmitrovic was not the only goalkeeper to score. In this we review the goalkeepers who have scored in the different competitions.
Marko Dmitrovic has surprised by scoring a penalty against Atlético … but he has not been the only goalkeeper to have scored in recent years in La Liga, in the Europa League or in the Champions League, among other competitions.
Palop, one of the most prominent cases
One of the most memorable cases had to do with Sevilla. In 2007, Andrés Palop, Sevilla’s goalkeeper, got the Sevilla squad into the quarterfinals of the old UEFA Cup, now the Europa League.
Against Shakhtar, the Valencian goalkeeper scored a header that marked the move to the next round for the Sevilla fans, who would end up taking their second consecutive UEFA Cup.
A target from Aranzubía that surprised LaLiga
One of the last precedent of goals scored by a goalkeeper featured Dani Aranzubía. In 2011, the then Deportivo de la Coruña goalkeeper scored in Almería, surprising locals and strangers.
In February 2011, the Galician team was losing by the minimum. On the last day of the game, Aranzubía went up to the opposite area, and with a header, he tied the match and unleashed the madness between the fans and the Coruña team.
Toni Prats, author of a double against Real Madrid and Atlético
The former Betis goalkeeper, among other teams, is another of the great protagonists. The goalkeeper scored not just one goal, but two, against two of Spain’s biggest teams, Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid. They were in the year 2000, and both targets were direct free kicks.
Chilavert, Mario or Fenoy also scored
There are many cases of goalkeepers that stand out … in the other area. Chilavert, when he played for Zaragoza, scored a penalty goal. For their part, Fenoy or Mario (Leganés) also scored. In addition, Nacho González, from Las Palmas, has an outstanding figure, since he scored six goals.
