But the question arises, do these two types of chargers damage battery life? To determine which charging technology is right for your smartphone, consider the following factors.
1. Charging speed

It’s no secret that wired charging is much faster than wireless. Qi wireless charging, which almost all smartphone manufacturers use, including Apple, is a standard inductive charging technology. Qi chargers draw about 5 to 15 watts from the power source and take about 3 to 4 hours to reach full power or about 1 hour for 0% to 50%, depending on battery size.
Meanwhile, wired charging can reach 50% in 15 to 30 minutes using 20W to 50W of energy. Fast chargers have smart controllers that automatically slow down charging when the battery is fully charged to minimize long-term damage. So, if speed is the most important factor for you, then a wired charger is clearly superior.
2. Battery life

You may notice that your phone becomes warm to the touch while charging. Wireless charging and fast charging generate heat and this is normal.
Fast charging can produce more unwanted heat output than slow wired charging. Heat is the number one enemy of cell phone batteries.
The difference between wireless and wired charging is that the wireless charging pad is located near the battery. Because of this, both the pad and the phone get hot, and the cumulative effect will degrade the battery quality over time. That’s why good wireless chargers have built-in fans to keep temperatures down.
Wired chargers can also get hot. But most of the heat is dissipated through the charging adapter, not the phone’s battery. But unlike wireless charging pads that get hot while working, wired chargers dissipate most of the heat through the charging adapter.
