Which are the safest? – EuroNCAP tests 18 cargo vans (+ VIDEO)

EuroNCAP has conducted tests to verify the safety of 18 commercial vehicles sold in Europe. Not everything is as security professionals would like.

Almost all vehicles have a drowsiness assistant as standard equipment, a little less than half have cruise control in the basic version, but the emergency braking assistant is in all cases only available as an optional extra. In addition, it should be noted that not all cases of this technology are provided with the function of detecting pedestrians or cyclists. Also, lane keeping assist is nowhere standard.

As a result, the Ford Transit and Fiat Ducato were awarded “gold” status, while the Mercedes-Benz Vito fell one level lower, no longer meeting the stricter test criteria introduced in January this year.

The Mercedes-Benz Sprinter and Nissan Primastar, as well as two Volkswagen models Crafter and T6.1, also received the “Silver” rating.

“Bronze” was awarded to Citroën Jumpy and Citroën Jumper, as well as technical twins Opel Vivaro, Peugeot Expert and Toyota Proace, as well as Opel Movano and Peugeot Boxer. The same rating for Iveco Daily and Renault Master.

The lowest Euro NCAP rating was given to Nissan Interstar. It is a “leaner” entry-level version of the Renault Master, the savings of which are mainly made at the expense of safety systems.
