Where to find the Supreme, Tiktok’s sparkling pastry?

A round, crunchy, cream-filled croissant has been taking New York City — and social media — by storm this summer. And it doesn’t stop!

Do you remember the cronut, an irresistible and very regressive pastry, a hybrid of the croissant and the donut dear to the Anglo-Saxons? It had been successfully launched by Dominique Ansel in 2013 and had risen to the headlines by creating substantial queues in the pastry shops and in the corners of the department stores that offered it.

But that was before the Instagram and TikTok craze! The Supreme (called New York Roll here) is similar to this famous Cronut. And it causes the same gourmet hysteria: people have been queuing in front of the Lafayette Grand Café & Bakery since its launch in April.

Its advantage, besides being delicious, crunchy, melting, fat, delicately sweetened to perfection with more cream and chocolate as a topping (or whatever) on its puff pastry, is that it is highly photographable and filmable! The croissant has caused a stir on TikTok and Instagram, with customers gently tearing off chunks of the pastry to show the ganache oozing from the flaky treat.

Scott Cioe, executive pastry chef of the bakery, widely interviewed as he admitted that he did not expect such a craze and that he never thought that his creation would become a real viral buzz. ” I don’t even have a TikTok“, he explained laughing.

At home in Belgium, you can find this delicacy in Mons! Chez Matouroux indeed, a pastry shop which, according to its Instagram account, offers real pastry bombs: brioches, croissants, tarts, flans are real works of art! (Rue d’Enghien 2, 7000 Mons).

And there is no doubt that we can afford something similar to Maison Zack, creative and rock and roll. Rue Haute 192, 1000 Brussels. Instagram: @maisonzackbxl

You can also find vegan versions of cinamon rolls, for example at Buddy Buddy, the interesting and delicious pastry shop and café not far from the Toison d’Or in Brussels.
