Dot application – what is it and how does it work?

The Dot application is used to store digital COVID EU certificates (or COVID passports). These are in the form of a QR code, which you can download into the application if you have been vaccinated, have had a coronavirus (in the last six months) or have passed a negative coronavirus test in the last 2 or 3 days.

You can obtain an EU digital COVID certificate (COVID passport) at Citizen’s vaccination portal, where you can relatively easily download the QR code, which you scan into the application. Another option is to log in to the Citizen’s Vaccination Portal and download EU digital COVID certificates directly to the application. The last option is to accept the certificate using an SMS code.

After the first login to the Vaccination Portal, the application will connect automatically. The application then automatically loads certificate updates (eg the second vaccination dose, new test results, etc.) for the person logged in to the portal.

It is possible to upload certificates of more than one person to the application, the dot for each of them lists the downloaded certificates, including the distinction between valid (green) and invalid (red).

The electronic signature and validity of the retrieved certificates are evaluated by the application without an Internet connection, using stored parameters.

When checking the application, it allows the display of the QR code and personal identification data. It is also possible to show the details of the certificate, including information about the type of vaccine or the test performed.

As The Dot application will also work without the Internet connection, but it is necessary to update it either at each startup or at the request of the user.

You log in to the application with your PIN or with a fingerprint or face fingerprint reader. The application only requires access to your camera to scan certificates.

The application supports Czech and English
