Miloň Čepelka acts as a gentle, almost introverted person with a poetic soul. He has a sense of humor and acting talent, but he doesn’t push forward, which is a remarkable trait these days. Filming the documentary seems a little wondering.

“I wonder if I’m so interesting,” he remarked at a press screening at the Pilots’ Cinema in Prague. As a co-founder of the Jára Cimrman Theater, it is certainly interesting. The documentary shows him in his native Pohoří, in Opočno, where he lives, and in the former villa of Czech Radio, where he broadcast in the worst moments of the August occupation by the Soviet army in 1968.

He founded the Jára Cimrman Theater with Zdeněk Svěrák, Jiří Šebánek and Ladislav Smoljak. He always wanted to write mainly. So why aren’t the Cimrmans playing his games? He allegedly tried it once, but his humor was so black that the others couldn’t stand it. He was not offended and later perfectly portrayed a number of characters in the theater.

As Zdeněk Svěrák remarked, it is unbelievable that they did not notice his acting talent from the beginning and considered him only a “speaker”. According to him, Miloň becomes a character on the stage, while other members of the ensemble are non-actors, they still remain a bit “civilian”.

In addition to acting, Čepelka found another pastime – he was enchanted by haiku, an ancient Japanese form of poetry. And he also wrote a few pop songs, for example for Marta Kubišová.
