For a few days, the Italian press has echoed the disappearance of an Italian traveler whose trace is lost in the Var department. According to his family, he has not been heard from since Monday July 11.
Where did Adriano Pacifico go? This 30-year-old from the province of Modena, in northern Italy, had to go by bike to Santiago de Compostela (Spain). A pilgrimage started on July 3, more than two thousand kilometers long.
“I heard from my son on Monday afternoon at 5:20 p.m. He video-called me from the cell phone of an individual whose phone he had borrowed, after his own had been broken”said Adriano’s mother, quoted by the Italian news agency Adnkronos.
signs of discouragement
This father of two girls, cook by profession, would have made this last phone call from Saint-Tropez or Toulon, according to his relatives.
The young man, who left Italy with rudimentary equipment and some food, showed signs of discouragement, said his mother.
His parents tracked the latest bank withdrawals made in recent days with Adriano Pacifico’s credit card. A final levy of ten euros would have been made in Toulon on Friday July 15, shortly after 9 p.m.
The traveler’s mother is currently in the south of France to try to retrace her son’s journey, and to obtain help from local and consular authorities. An investigation for “disturbing disappearance” could be opened.
Was he the victim of an accident? From a bad meeting? Did he continue on his way without managing to recontact his relatives? So many questions that torment those close to Adriano Pacifico.
