“Where he is, he has forgiven his murderers,” says Jonah’s father –

Sadness has been caused by the death of 26-year-old Iona Karousis, who died during a deadly terrorist attack by members of Hamas, outside a tram station in Tel Aviv.

The 26-year-old held dual citizenship, Greek and Israeli. He was born on September 11, 1998 in Tel Aviv and grew up in Jerusalem, always having close relations with Greece and his hometown, Thessaloniki.

“I have a huge pain and a disappointment,” Iona’s father will tell MEGA and then explain:

“Not just personal (disappointment), but about where we’re going, where the world is going. When there are ideologies and religions that sanctify the killing of innocent people in the name of some God, is it possible to move forward?”

About Jonah, he said that he was “a ray of light and love for everyone”.

“His classmates at the university told me that his nickname was a ray of sunshine, because he reflected the same love and enthusiasm for life to everyone. I am sure that where he is today he has forgiven his killers”, he said.

Jonah’s funeral was held on Saturday (05/10) at the Greek Orthodox cemetery at the Gate of the Prophet David or Zion Gate, in the old city of Jerusalem. At the same time, a memorial service was held in his hometown, Thessaloniki.
