Where does the desire to sleep during the day come from?

Frequent need for, to lie down and get some sleep in the middle of the day, indicates ill health.

“When a person constantly needs rest with sleep, despite the fact that he sleeps for 7-8 hours at night, this suggests that there is some kind of failure in the system. For example, this could be due to some minor inflammation, depression, being overweight or lacking something else, ”warns Professor Thorbjørn Oekerstedt from the Institute for Stress Research.

It is believed that a normal night’s sleep should last 7 hours. Lack of sleep (6.5 hours or less), as well as its excess (9.5 hours or more), are associated with higher mortality. But do not forget about the heredity factor.

Those who sleep little at night do not have enough time for the necessary recovery. This negatively affects the immune system, blood fats, blood sugar, which, in particular, is associated with cardiovascular diseases. At the same time, these negative effects are not observed when a person sleeps little on weekdays, but compensates for this by sleeping on weekends.

After a sleepless night, a nap during the day can be very beneficial. Observations using electroencephalography show an obvious positive effect after a 10-minute nap.

It is known that the less snow in winter, the more darkness affects people. The problem is that the brain needs light to raise the level of wakefulness. In latitudes with short daylight hours, a person tends to increase the amount of daylight hours so that his biological clock works as it should. As one of the ways to do this, it is recommended to travel to warm regions, where there is more sun, or, conversely, to the north, where there is snow. Today this is not available to many, so just do not skimp on lighting your homes.
