Where does Oslo prison end up? Statsbygg has 53 new plots on the block.

Statsbygg called for more prison plots in and around Oslo. 53 proposals were received. Now the goal is to make a recommendation before the New Year.

Here is Oslo prison today: In Greenland, in central Oslo. The penitentiary – the oldest part – was completed as early as 1851. Until its closure in 2017, the penitentiary was the oldest prison in the country in operation.

Oslo prison will move. At least that’s the plan. The Ministry of Justice and Statsbygg have long been looking for a suitable plot.

Statsbygg now has 53 new proposals on the block. More on that later.
