New Delhi: On January 30 this year, Akhundji Masjid and Behrul Uloom Madrasa located in Mehrauli area of ​​South Delhi were razed to the ground by bulldozers. This action was taken by DDA. Now Delhi High Court has given a big decision in this matter. In fact, recently a petition was filed regarding offering Ramzan prayers in this demolished mosque.

According to the report of the Bar Bench, the petition filed regarding the 600 year old Akhundji Mosque which was demolished in Mehrauli and other cases regarding offering Namaz during the month of Ramzan has been rejected. Justice Sachin Dutta rejected the petition on March 11, saying that a similar petition for entry to the site during Shab-e-Barat had already been rejected.

What did the court say?
The court said, ‘The reasoning given in the earlier order dated 23.02.2024 is also applicable in the context of the present application. In the circumstances, there is no justification for this Court to adopt a different approach. Thus, this Court is not inclined to grant the relief sought in the present application and consequently it is dismissed.

Who filed the petition?
The application for Ramzan prayers was filed by Muntazmia Committee Madrasa Bahrul Uloom and Graveyard. It is noteworthy that on February 23, the High Court had rejected the petition filed by the Managing Committee of Delhi Waqf Board, which had sought a direction that the local people should be allowed to celebrate Shab-e-Baraat on that land. Go where once there used to be Akhundji/Akhunji Mosque, graveyard and madrasa. Akhundji Masjid and Behrul Uloom Madrasa in Mehrauli were demolished by the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) on the morning of 30 January.
