AUSTIN, Texas.- If your home or apartment suffered property damage from the recent winter storm, the city of Austin set up a website offering help for winter storm repairs. The website provides contractor information, help paying for overdue services, and how to qualify for local and federal grants.

The website has information on plumbers, electricians, and other contractors; service requests and code compliance; the emergency permitting process; financial assistance for homeowners; and federal and local assistance programs.

The city of Austin will reportedly update the website with new information and resources as they become available.

FEMA Help
Homeowners with insurance should file a claim with their insurance company as soon as possible. By law, FEMA cannot duplicate benefits for losses covered by insurance. Homeowners may be eligible for federal assistance if insurance does not cover all damages.
