More wanderlust: Where traffic jams threaten at the weekend
At the weekend, there should be a little more travel on the trunk roads. On some routes this can lead to obstacles, especially if there are other aspects involved.

Berlin/Munich.It is likely to get a little tighter on some motorways this coming weekend (May 13th to 15th). It can be noisy due to the growing desire to travel among holidaymakers who are not tied to a holiday Auto Club Europe (ACE) and ADAC sometimes problems arise. The ACE counts the classic travel routes in the Alps and low mountain ranges or to the coasts of the North and Baltic Seas as endangered routes.

Among the travelers are likely to be many camping holidaymakers with mobile homes and trailers – also on the side routes. However, the car clubs are not expecting many and long traffic jams and are expecting largely moderate, quiet traffic overall.
Friday, Saturday, Sunday: where it gets crowded on these days
From Friday afternoon there will be the usual delays and traffic jams – especially around the metropolitan areas. On Saturday and Sunday, especially on the routes mentioned, there is a risk of delays, for example at construction sites, despite only moderate travel traffic. Especially when the weather is nice, there should also be a lot of excursion traffic on the secondary routes, especially on Sundays.

In addition to route closures, more and more construction sites are slowing down the flow of traffic in some places. The ADAC currently has 1015 construction sites (previous week: 915). Especially if there are accidents or even breakdowns in these areas, it takes longer.
In addition, maintenance work has been announced for some tunnel tubes in the spring. According to the ADAC, these would often be blocked several times at night – but usually during the week.

There should also be free travel on the transit routes in Austria and Switzerland – also slowed down by construction sites in some places and commuter traffic on Friday.

The ACE also considers traffic jams in front of the Gotthard tunnel to be possible late on Saturday morning – with a manageable waiting time. The ACE lists which passes are already passable or still blocked online on.
Random checks are to be expected for border traffic. However, due to the easing of entry regulations in many countries, things are progressing much faster than they were a few weeks ago, according to the ADAC.
