Sedesa reported that in the 2021 rabies vaccination campaign it is expected to apply 687 thousand 129 doses, of which it is estimated that 549 thousand 703 would be for dogs and 137 thousand 426 for cats.
He also explained that the rabies vaccine that is applied is of the highest quality and inactivated viruses are used.
Some animals may present a reaction to the vaccine, so if it is suspected that this is the case, it is recommended to seek veterinary medical help and later it is recommended to notify the Sanitary Jurisdiction or Health Unit, in order to carry out the pertinent investigations.
All dogs and cats must be vaccinated against rabies from the month of birth and a dose of boosters must be applied when they reach three months of life, then they must be vaccinated every year for the rest of their life.
The government of the capital recognized the responsibility of pet owners by recalling that since 2006 no cases of rabies transmitted by dog bites have been reported in Mexico.
The Sedesa asked pet owners to take their pets to be vaccinated, use the mask correctly, respect the healthy distance and, if possible, that only one person go to the vaccination centers.
