Los solar eclipses They are one of the most striking astronomical phenomena for people. These occur when the Sun, Moon and Earth align and can occur totally or partially. According to NASA (US National Aeronautics and Space Administration), depending on how they are aligned, “eclipses offer unique and exciting views of the Sun or Moon.”
According to NASA, a solar eclipse occurs when the Moon manages to pass between the Sun and the Earth, which causes a shadow to be projected over our planet and this allows the sunlight to be totally or partially blocked in some areas.
This does not happen occasionally, since “the Moon does not orbit in the exact same plane as the Sun and the Earth. The time they align is known as eclipse season, which happens twice a year,” according to NASA.

In addition, there are various types of solar eclipses: total eclipse, which is when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun; annular, when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, but at the moment when it is at its furthest point from the Earth or close to this point; partial, which occurs when the Moon passes between the Sun and the Earth, but the Sun, the Moon and the Earth are not perfectly aligned; and hybrid, which is a combination of the latter two.
When is the total solar eclipse and how to see it?
It is Next April 8, 2024 one of these spectacular astronomical events will occur. A total solar eclipse that, according to the AEM (Mexican Space Agency), will begin in Mazatlán, Sinaloa in Mexico, ending in the cities of Newfoundland and Labrador, in Canada.
According to the aforementioned agency, the recommendations are not to look directly at the Sun and, instead, to use glasses with special solar filters to see it. Ordinary glasses are not adequate to protect your eyes during this type of eclipse.
NASA noted that, in the United States, the eclipse will occur on Monday, April 8, beginning as a partial eclipse in Dallas, Texas, at 12:23 p.m.and will reach its peak at 1:42 pm (Central Time), in that state. The total solar eclipse will last 4 minutes and 28 seconds and will leave the United States through Caribou, Maine, at 4:40 pm (Eastern Time).
