Where and how to take a free Covid test in New York?

France requires the presentation of a Covid test on return

  • From December 4, 2021, the French authorities require that any person coming from a country located outside the European Union presents the negative result of a negative Covid test carried out within 48 hours of arrival in France.
  • French government spokesman Gabriel Attal did not say whether this test should be a PCR test or an antigen test. The fact that he only talks about a negative test indicates that this test can be PCR or antigenic. Otherwise the precision would have been mentioned.

Where and how to take a Covid test in New York?

  • If you are staying in New York, you will have no difficulty taking a Covid test. Be careful though because there are all prices: we called a few laboratories in New York and some ask $ 150 for a PCR test.
  • We have also joined a laboratory that manages about fifty FREE test points in Manhattan alone. All you need to do is show up in one of these tents and present your passport. As a foreign visitor, the test will be FREE for you ! These mobile test points are open 24 hours a day! You will find all the locations on the laboratory site.

Some addresses of free Covid test points

Here are some addresses of mobile test centers belonging to the LabQ laboratory:

  • In the Staten Island Ferry Lobby: 4 South Street, Manhattan.
  • In TriBeca, at the corner of Canal Street and Broadway.
  • In Greenwich Village, corner of 5th Avenue and Washington Square North.
  • Close to Bryant Park on the corner of 6th Avenue and 39th Street.
  • Inside Grand Central Terminal, New York’s Central Station.
  • Close to Times Square on the corner of Broadway and 54th Street.
  • On Grand Army Plaza, corner of 5th Avenue and 59th Street.
  • On Columbus Circle, near the southwest entrance to Central Park.
  • On the Upper West Side, at the corner of Broadway and 71st Street.
  • On the Upper East Side, at the corner of 3rd Avenue and 76th Street.
  • In Brooklyn, in the Dumbo district, at No. 55 Washington Street. Convenient to then cross the Brooklyn Bridge or the Manhattan Bridge.

Again, these are free tests! You will also see that these tents or mobile points indicate “Free Covid-19 Testing”, as in the photo above. And, again, we called them and so it is well confirmed that these tests are free for foreigners.
