If you want to have a secure parking space in the big city without having to search for a long time, you have to rent a long-term parking space. The price range in Germany is wide: an uncovered parking space on the outskirts costs just 20 euros per month in many cities. For an underground parking space in the center, however, up to 290 euros are required. This is the result of an analysis by the portal immowelt.de, for which the rental prices of parking spaces and garages in the 14 largest German cities were examined.
Those looking for a parking space have to dig deepest in their wallets in Frankfurt am Main: a long-term parking space in popular areas can cost up to 290 euros there, especially in downtown Frankfurt. In the busy banking district, many commuters want to get their car to a safe place quickly so they can get to work quickly. Behind Frankfurt, but at a great distance, follows Munich with top rents of up to 200 euros. The highest prices can be found where many people live or work: In Ludwigsvorstadt-Isarvorstadt, Maxvorstadt and Schwabing-West, long-term parking is particularly expensive due to the proximity to the city center.

The parking situation is no different in Hamburg (up to 175 euros) and Berlin (up to 170 euros). In other major German cities such as Stuttgart (150 euros), Cologne (120 euros) and Leipzig (100 euros), three-digit parking space rents are often charged in the inner city locations. In all large cities, however, the following applies: In peripheral locations, outdoor parking spaces can be found for 15 to 25 euros.
It was only this year that traffic fines were tightened. If you park incorrectly, for example in the second row or when parking is prohibited, you sometimes pay 3 times as much fines as before. As a result, a further increase in interest in parking spaces can be expected. This could lead to even higher parking prices in the coming years.
Not all large cities charge three-digit rental prices for secure parking spaces in the city center. Drivers from the Ruhr area, for example, get away with it much cheaper: In Essen and Dortmund, depending on the location, car owners have to reckon with 20 to 75 (Dortmund) or 80 euros (Essen) for a permanent parking space. In Hanover, between 15 and 75 euros are due.
Parking spaces in Dresden are even cheaper. There they only cost between 20 and 70 euros – the smallest price range of all major cities examined. For 70 euros you can get a central covered garage parking space in Dresden’s Inner Neustadt – less than a quarter of the asking price in Frankfurt am Main. (ots)
