The Avenida cinema marked a whole era for the people of Compostela. It opened its doors in the mid-1950s on Calle Rosalía de Castro, becoming one of those neighborhood cinemas so fashionable in those years throughout the country. And it is that at that time, the room was located in what were the outskirts of the city, which meant that the tickets for the sessions were cheaper than in the cinemas in the center of Santiago. The young people from the neighborhood of Conxo, Santa Marta and A Choupana were regulars of the Avenida, where they spent many weekend afternoons and organized real parties in each session. The place closed its doors in 1999 and one of the last films shown on its screen was the well-known Pull Fiction. The building was abandoned for many years and was covered with weeds, until in 2005 a fire destroyed the building, which passed away. At present, after many years, it is still pending urbanization, in a project that seems endless and that has kept the area surrounded by construction fences for a long time.
