Currently, the sun rises around 7 a.m. Many people travel to work or school in the morning when it is still dark. This will change soon, however, because we will change our clocks to winter time. Then the evenings will be longer, but it will get light faster in the morning. Are we changing the clocks tonight?
When will the time change to winter 2024?
You have to wait a while for the change to winter time. Although the sun is setting earlier and earlier, we still have two weeks until the really long evenings. We will stop using Central European Summer Time on the last weekend of October. The change to winter time will take place on the night of October 26-27, or rather on Sunday, October 27.
Daylight saving time: How do we change the clocks?
Changing to winter time allows us to sleep an hour longer. On Sunday, October 27, we turn our clocks back one hour – from 3:00 to 2:00. The exact time of cancellation of Central European summer time is specified in the Regulation of the Council of Ministers of March 4, 2022 on the introduction and cancellation of Central European summer time in the years 2022–2026. In par. 2 section 2 we can read that “the cancellation of Central European summer time consists in changing the clocks from 3 minutes 00 of this time to 2 minutes 00, which will be the starting time of Central European time.”
Winter time will apply until the last weekend of March 2025. The return to Central European Summer Time will take place on Sunday, March 30.
