It will happen in about 5 billion years

The sun is a star that formed about 4.6 billion years ago. Scientists believe that this giant rotating cloud of gas and dust is starting to “collapse” due to its gravity.
Ultimately, the Sun which provides this source of heat and energy will die. So, when will our Sun die and what will happen when this event comes? Check out the explanation below.
1. When will the Sun die?

According to the page Arizona State University, the sun’s fuel, namely hydrogen, will eventually run out. If this happens, the sun will start to die. Even so, you don’t need to worry. The death of the Sun is predicted to occur in about 5 billion years.
After the hydrogen runs out, there will be a period of 2-3 billion years where the Sun will go through a stellar death phase. Our star is currently in the most stable phase of its life cycle and has been since the formation of our solar system

2. Why does the Sun die?
Reported by the page Spaceas with other stars, the Sun formed when a huge cloud of gas (mostly hydrogen and helium) grew so large that it collapsed under its own weight.
The pressure at the center of mass of the collapsing gas would be so high that the heat would reach unimaginable levels. With very hot temperatures, hydrogen atoms will lose their electrons.

The hydrogen atoms then fuse to become helium atoms. The reaction releases enough energy to counter the strong gravitational pressure and destroy the gas cloud.
The battle between gravity and energy from fusion reactions fuels our sun and billions of other stars in our galaxy and beyond. This process will eventually stop when the Sun’s main energy is exhausted.
