When will the holidays be in 2022-23? Ready the next school calendar in New York

As students in New York – the city with the largest school population in the country – count down the days to start vacation at the close of the 2021-22 school year, The Department of Education (DOE) has already announced when they should return to the classroom and other details for the 2022-23 period.

Next Thursday On September 8, the new school year will begin on public campuses, which will run until Tuesday, June 27, 2023. This applies from kindergarten through 12th grade.

In the interim, schools will be closed for the following holidays: Rosh Hashanah (September 26 and 27), Yom Yippur (October 5), Italian Heritage/Indigenous Peoples Day (October 10), Veterans Day (November 11 ), Thanksgiving (November 24 and 25), Christmas (December 26), New Years (January 2), Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day (January 16), Passover (April 6), Good Friday (April 7), Ed. al-Fitr (April 21), Memorial Day (May 29) and Juneteenth (June 19). On election day, November 8, there will also be no classesnarrowed Pix11.

Additionally, the traditional long vacation periods will be fulfilled on these dates: Winter break (December 27-30); Midwinter (February 20-24) and Spring (April 8-14). The full schedule of NYC holidays and other activities in the 2022-23 school year can be found here.

Furthermore, in the possible “snow days” or when school buildings are closed due to an emergency, all students and their families should plan to participate in remote learning.

“If your child attends a private, parochial, charter, NYCEEC (New York City Early Education Centers) community organization, or family child care program, please contact the school for information on their calendar. ”, highlighted the DOE.
