When will Pixar’s controversial film Lightyear come to Disney Plus | Entertainment

After not succeeding in theaters around the world, the Spin-Off starring Buzz Lightyear is very close to landing on the Disney platform, where they hope to take flight in hours of viewing.

Although there was a lot of expectation with Lightyear, because it is the story of one of the most beloved characters in the world of animation, the reality is that in theaters it has not worked at all.

It may be that Toy Story fans are already very old (the original is from 1995) and are not interested in the lives and adventures of Buzz, or that a Buzz Spin-Off simply does not have the pull that was always believed. Be that as it may, the premiere was a real disaster. A blot in Pixar’s history.

Throughout the pandemic, Disney decided to release all Pixar movies on Disney+ instead of in theaters. Soul, Luca and Turning Red debuted on the streaming service directly, as you may remember.

That is why there was expectation with this premiere, since last month, Lightyear was the first Pixar movie to hit theaters since 2020. Now at Disney they have announced that the film will arrive on Disney + on August 3.

This shows that studios are increasingly comfortable hanging their movies just six or seven weeks after their theatrical release. Now that Wednesday is the big day for the premieres on Disney +, it is no coincidence that the first Wednesday of August is day 3.

Disney + continues to release news, such as its STAR channel. If you sign up for the annual subscription, you will save the equivalent of two months compared to the monthly subscription.

July has been pretty busy for the streaming service so far, but the second half is a bit slower. Earlier this month, Disney Plus premiered the finale of Ms. Marvel and the hit movie Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

And while there’s no Star Wars series on the horizon, we do get a new Marvel series in August. She-Hulk: Lawyer She-Hulk opens August 17, bringing Bruce Banner’s cousin Jennifer Walters into the fold.

I Am Groot, a series of five original shorts, will also be available on the service starting August 10. Good holidays are coming.
