In the inter-season between autumn and winter, when the weather is still changing, icing can most often form on the roads in the morning – an imperceptible layer of ice that can look like wet asphalt on the road. Driving on such a road is more dangerous than in the summer season, so the VP urges drivers to be careful, observe a longer driving distance and an appropriate driving style.
At variable temperatures, particularly dangerous places can form on bridges or overpasses and in curves. In such places, it is important to pay special attention to safe driving speeds, and drivers should avoid performing sharp maneuvers that can cause slipping.
If drivers have to watch out for icing in the morning, during the day, after the autumn rain, puddles can form on the roads, as a result of which the road cracks fill with water. In such weather conditions, drivers must be very careful not to lose control of the vehicle, as the vehicle’s tires may lose traction and so-called aquaplaning may occur when entering water-filled roads. The risk increases when the driver performs rapid maneuvers, therefore, drivers should avoid sudden maneuvers – rapid braking or rapid speeding.
The VP urges drivers not to risk the safety of themselves and other road users while driving. During the changing seasons, it is very important for drivers to take care of the technical condition of their vehicle, especially the quality of the tires. As well as timely assessment of the need to equip your vehicle with winter tires.
