This Thursday, CD Águila will host Olimpia de Honduras in its third match of the CONCACAF Central American Cup, a rival with which the team from San Miguel has a history of six matches, of which it has only beaten the team on one occasion. When was the last time these teams faced each other?
The last meeting between the two clubs dates back to the Central American Grand Tournament in 1998, where Olimpia beat the team from San Miguel 2-1, and after 26 years the teams will meet again to add another record to their tally.
In its history, Águila has 13 matches against Honduran teams, where it has won once, drawn four times and lost eight times. The only victory was 4-2 against CD Olimpia in Group B of the 1997 UNCAF Central American Fraternity Tournament.
Olimpia has faced Salvadoran teams 30 times, achieving 19 wins, 5 draws and 6 losses. The last time they faced a Salvadoran rival was on August 22, 2023, with a 4-2 victory against FAS.
The feathered team will face its third match of the regional competition after it debuted with a minimum draw against Antigua and then beat the Belize team Port Layola 5 to 1.
For its part, Olimpia debuted with a 3-0 against Independiente, and beat Port Layola 1-6, to finish with six points and second in the group stage table.
