When Toyota is wrong, Twitter laughs a lot

Rest assured, the end of the world is not yet here and for the moment, the Principality of Monaco has not yet turned into a post-apocalyptic desert.

Sébastien Ogier has just won the Monte-Carlo Rally for the eighth time. He is therefore doing better than Sébastien Loeb and his seven victories, and takes the lead in the championship at the start of the 2021 season.

Toyota, the team that entered him on a Yaris WRC, logically took the opportunity to celebrate this superb victory. The brand’s “community manager”, who publishes content on the Twitter network, wrote a message on his Twitter account a few days ago to announce the holding of the Monte-Carlo Rally. But the image associated with this message, a photo of the Toyota Hi-Lux engaged in Dakar 2021, made Internet users explode with laughter.

Monte-Carlo already reduced to a desert state?

No one is perfect, and we are certainly not going to cast the first stone as we inevitably multiply typos in our many articles published every day. But the image of a pick-up on the dunes of Monte-Carlo had something to seduce fans of apocalyptic science fiction. Note that the image has since been deleted from Toyota France’s Twitter account.
