When the Otto bosses say thank you personally

“When calling the board!” is the name of an approximately 11-minute video that the Otto Group put online just in time for the holidays. The content is easy to tell: The members of the company’s board of directors thank their numerous employees for their good work. However, they do not do that with a general greeting message including warm words, as usual, but rather directly during a personal visit to the canteen, in the offices and, fully Corona-compliant, through crashed zoom calls.

When all of a sudden Alexander Birken, Chief Executive Officer, Kay Schiebur, Head of Services, or Petra Scharner-Wolff, Chief Financial Officer, come to express their gratitude, the effect is certain.

The foreign branches were not forgotten in the video, nor were the logistics subsidiary Hermes or the fashion offshoot Bon Prix. In the end, an entertaining video was created that on the one hand shows the personal side of the company’s board of directors and on the other allows a slightly different view of the Otto company, its daughters and the people who do their work there day in and day out. Eleven minutes that could serve as a model for many other companies.
