Most pensioners in Germany rely on receiving their pension on time. However, there are two different payment dates.
Dortmund – Not all pensions are the same: different types and deadlines can lead to differences. For example, hundreds of thousands of pensioners have no claim to a certain type of pension. And pensioners also have to pay more attention to the payment dates for their old-age pension.
Pension payment dates 2024: When the money will be in your account in September
Unlike unemployment benefit or citizen’s allowance, there are two different payment dates for pensions. These depend on when the pension entitlement arose:
- Pensions that began before April 2004 are paid in advance.
- Pensions commencing from April 2004 will be paid at the end of the month for which they are intended.
Pension payment dates 2024: There are two dates in September
The following pension payment dates apply for the month of September 2024:
- Pension start date before April 2004: Friday, August 30, 2024
- Pension start date from April 2004: Monday, 30 September 2024

Important to know: Pension payments are made by Deutsche Post’s “Pension Service” on behalf of the German Pension Insurance. Pensions are always transferred on the last banking day of the month in question (or the previous month for pensions that began before April 2004) (more pension topics at RUHR24).
Pension payment dates 2024: These are the days on which pensioners can expect to receive their money
For the remainder of 2024, the following pension payment dates apply:
Pensioners whose pension began before April 2004 will receive their September pension at the end of August. Everyone else will have to wait until the last day of September. In any case, the money should be available on time at the start of the month.
