KOMPAS.com – The Indonesian Badminton Association (PBSI) has decided to withdraw the majority of Indonesian players from Indonesia Chinese Taipei Open 2022.

The Red and White representatives, who previously competed at the Singapore Open 2022 last week, were included in the group drawn by PBSI from the Super 300 tournament.

PP PBSI’s Head of Development and Achievement, Rionny Mainaky, explained that the decision was taken because there were sick coaches and players.

“We also withdraw all players from Taipei who had appeared at the Singapore Open. Because there are players and coaches who are sick,” said Rionny in an official PBSI release received Kompas.comMonday (18/7/2022).

“In Taipei, health protocols are still very strict. There is a quarantine, bubble system, and antigen tests every day,” he added.

“If exposed, quarantine must be in hospital. We don’t want to take risks,” explained Rionny.

The winners of Singapore 2022, Leo Rolly Carnando/Daniel Marthin and Apriyani Rahau/Siti Fadia Silva Ramadhanti, are among the Indonesian representatives who canceled their appearance at the event. Chinese Taipei Open 2022.

They certainly did not take part because of injury problems.

Fadia has had a problem in his heel since he was in Malaysia, while Leo still feels pain in his waist.

“We withdraw the participation of Apri/Fadia and Leo/Daniel from the 2022 Taipei Open,” said Rionny Mainaky.

“For Apri/Fadia, Fadia’s legs have had a few problems since he was in Malaysia and Leo’s waist, which has just healed, has returned, so it was decided to focus on healing first,” explained Rionny.

BWF initially released that there were 14 representatives of Red and White who would compete in the Super 300 badminton tournament.

Now, there are only three representatives of the Red and White who will compete. They are Ikhsan Leonardo Imanuel Rumbay, Christian Adinata (single son) and Komang Ayu Cahya Dewi (single daughter).

Ikhsan went straight to the main round or the big 32. Meanwhile, Christian and Komang have to go through qualifications first.

Komang is actually a reserve player. However, she entered the qualifying round because there was a women’s singles who withdrew.

The Chinese Taipei Open 2022 is scheduled to take place from Tuesday (19/7/2022) to Sunday (24/7/2022).
