When the historic building of a former bank “becomes an English pub”

URBAN PLANNING – The Drunky Stork social club has just taken over the former Strassburger Bank, an imposing building in Strasbourg that has been abandoned for some thirty years

For about thirty years now, Strasbourg covet it, imagine it, and above all wonder what the interior of the old Strassburger Bank, located rue du Vieux wine market. Like a cocoon, the place today welcomes the The Drunky Stork Social Club, a restaurant (and much more) that fits well with the history of this remarkable building dating from 1897.

The imposing neo-Baroque building in pink sandstone, a bit austere with its facade often in the shade, originally housed the headquarters of the Strassburger Bank. The spectacularly sized building was then occupied by BNP before being taken over by an antique dealer in 1974, who left it ten years later.
