when the GT40 won the 1966 24 Hours of Daytona

Ridiculed is less word since at the wheel of their GT40 Mk2, Ken Miles and Lloyd Ruby finished at the head of the 24 Hours of Daytona with no less than 8 laps in advance! A fact told in particular in the excellent feature film “Le Mans 66”, with Matt Damon and Christian Bale.

Ford reminds us of this milestone in its history in competition with a special series of GT, using the asymmetric and tricolor livery of the n ° 98. The 20-inch gold rims are also clearly reminiscent of the 1966 Mk2. Stylistic choices more in tune with the times, the brake calipers are painted red and the carbon fiber is visible in several places, perhaps just to remind you that technologies have meanwhile really evolved!

On board, the upholstery is dressed in a bright red Alcantara, while the dashboard is dressed in the same materials but in black. Note the red anodized steering wheel paddles, the most beautiful effect. The carbon fiber is again particularly highlighted too.

As an option, the Heritage Upgrade Package personalizes the door trims, stamping them with the No.98 and the 20-inch rims are in dark carbon fiber. On the mechanical side, the 660 hp V6 remains unchanged.

Alongside the Heritage Special Series, Ford will also be offering the Studio Collection with new customization options. 7 new colors will thus be available, with a stripping highlighting the exceptional aerodynamics of the GT.

Only 40 copies will be able to receive this type of personalization. Ford hasn’t released pricing yet, either for the Heritage Edition or the Studio Collection. Their production will not start until 2021, at the beginning of the year, a period when the 24 Hours of Daytona is traditionally held. Hazard ?
