What is the cashback? You should know by now. Also because the measure was suspended for at least six months starting from 1 July of this year: this was decided by the government control room on Monday 28 June 2021. It is a reward mechanism which entitles you to a 10% refund of purchases made with electronic money, provided that at least 50 electronic transactions have been carried out within a semester and within the limit, each, of 150 euros per transaction. As you may have already guessed, this is a measure that encourages the traceability of payments through a reward mechanism accessible only by those who opt for electronic payments.
When the cashback ends
From a political point of view, the – perhaps temporary – stop of state reimbursements sparked the ire of Giuseppe Conte, who had been the architect of that measure during his months as prime minister. The majority has entered into fibrillation: but the disrespect to the Five Stars seems for the moment not to have had an impact on the executive.
If you don’t fit it, the effects of the measure are still operational. Although the first semester ended on June 30, the accreditations on the current account will go on starting from day 1 July 2021. This is the deadline. According to the program, at the end of the first half of 2021, the transactions carried out from June to the end of the year and in 2022 should have been counted. Next year, too, it should have been divided into two halves, according to the calendar January 1, 2022 – June 30. 2022, months during which the cashback would be operational. But in June 2021 the measure ceased to be effective, by decision of the Draghi executive.
When will the cashback payment take place
There is therefore nothing left to do but wait for the receipt, which is the reimbursement of 10% of the expenses, for the amounts that have been paid since the beginning of the year. Payments will be made in July, and, starting from July 1, for the next 60 days. CONSAP will be responsible for the refunds. The only certainty is that the money should arrive by the end of August 2021.
