When the bullets ran out, this brave Indian Army jumped into the enemy bunker with a Khukri, climbed on the chest and started cutting the necks of the Pakistani soldiers.

thisThis story is about the brave Major Bimal Kishan Das Badgel of the Indian Army, who wrote an unprecedented story of bravery in the India-Pakistan war of 1971. In those days, India had decided to intervene in the Bangladesh Liberation War going on in East Pakistan. Major Bimal Das was given the responsibility of entering the enemy’s house and teaching him a lesson. Therefore, due to his intelligence, Major Bimal Das along with his comrades was successful in reaching the interior areas of Bangladesh.

On 8 December 1971, Major Badgel was given the responsibility of destroying all the posts of Pakistani Army. But, it was not so easy for Major Bargel to fulfill this responsibility. The enemy already in ambush was continuously trying to target Major Bargel and his companions with his MMG and artillery shells. The situation had reached such a stage that due to the accurate and heavy enemy fire, Major Bargel’s companions scattered.

At the same time, Major Bargel and his comrades had weapons with them, but they were proving to be dwarfs in front of the MMG and artillery of the Pakistani Army. There came a time when the angry enemy almost started raining live ammunition on the Indian soldiers. In such a situation, taking a step forward for the Indian soldiers under the cover of stones was tantamount to suicide. Seeing the aggression of the enemy, the morale of the Indian brave men also started breaking. In such a situation, Major Bargel went to every comrade of his company and boosted their morale.

Looking at the current situation, Major Bargel along with his colleagues made a new plan and decided to surround the enemy positions and attack from different directions. Indian heroes moved forward and by giving counter fire to each other, they succeeded in reaching close to the enemy positions. But, there was not one challenge in front of him here. Actually, the Indian soldiers had almost run out of bullets. In such a situation, Major Badgel decided to attack the enemy with his Khukri.

He took his Khukri and entered the enemy bunker. Seeing Major Bargel, the soldiers of his company also took their Khukris and entered the trenches and bunkers of Pakistani soldiers. Major Bargel started cutting the necks of Pakistani soldiers one by one with his Khukri. At this time, the Indian soldiers were not giving a single chance to the Pakistani soldiers present in the bunkers and trenches to recover.

Major Bimal Kishan Das Badgel was badly injured in this battle, but with his wisdom and bravery, he hoisted the flag of victory over all the enemy posts. Major Bimal Kishan Das Badgel was awarded the Vir Chakra for his indomitable courage.
