The possibility of always carrying a camera with us opens up many possibilities. The amount of photography we take today is enormous, and much of it we owe to ease of simply taking out the iPhone and pressing a button. And this is where all kinds of tips come into play for taking the best photos.
We can talk about the rule of thirds, exposure. We can talk about third-party apps to manually change some parameters. We can talk about color, composition, many things… But there is a very simple advice stands out above all others.
A small detail, but one that we often overlook
When taking a photograph, post-production must be taken into account. The ideal is always get the closest photograph of the finished product at the time of shootingBut that’s not always possible. Aware that a photograph will always need touch-ups, even if it’s a slight renovation or an increase in contrast, the tips for taking a good photo change.
The most important thing when taking a photo is taking care of what we won’t be able to fix in post-production. For example, it almost doesn’t matter if the photo is a little crooked, we’ll fix it, but more importantly, if it’s not blurry or out of focus, it’s much more difficult to fix.

And this allows me to talk about another consideration on iPhone cameras and keeping them clean: the protectors. It is clear that an iPhone may need a case. It is clear that a screen protector helps protect its integrity depending on what we are going to use the phone for. What it’s not at all clear whether a camera protector is a good idea.
Our iPhone camera lenses have been made from sapphire crystal for several years. It is a very hard material and very difficult to scratch. With a cover protruding from the camera module to absorb a possible impact, they must be sufficiently protected. The plastic protectors, sometimes glued to the lens itself, can only spoil the photograph.
If they use it, the sticker distorts the image. If they don’t use it, that little piece of plastic, much less hard than sapphire, will eventually get scratched and this will show in the photographs. Either way, it’s not the best idea. That said, of course, it’s up to each individual to assess how they want to protect and care for their iPhone, but photographically the maxim is clear: nothing gets in the way of the lens.
