When starting a business saves your life

It was after going through painful ordeals in their lives that Karine Martel and Sophie Bouchard turned their passion into a business project: Chez À vos wishes, a service for making personalized greeting cards.

“It was art that saved my life. It was art that allowed me to heal me from a major major depression. My passion for scrapbooking led me to this business project with Sophie, ”says Karine Martel, from Chambord. His partner lives in Dolbeau-Mistassini.

In the midst of a pandemic, they decided to create this business that allows people to deliver personalized and unique greeting cards to people according to their preference.

“You can make a card according to people’s passions and write a personalized word by hand or printed inside. In the current context, we know that it feels good to receive a real card that is beautiful and that is designed especially for people. We don’t throw it away! “

The company is already enjoying some success, even if it is little known to the public. Since September, 3,600 cards have been designed and shipped across the region. The two entrepreneurs obtained contracts from companies that wanted to have unique and personalized cards for their customers for the holiday greetings.

The price of the cards varies between $ 6 and $ 10. Home delivery is free.

For Valentine’s Day, the company is offering a card concept with a cake in partnership with Miss Gâteau de Saint-Prime to celebrate the feast of love.

Memory

Karine Martel was unable to return to her teaching job due to the shock treatments she underwent to combat her depression. Her memory problems inspired her to provide a reminder to people so that they don’t forget an important birthday.

“It’s hard to deal with memory problems. It happens too often that we forget a birthday! Men will no longer have a reason to forget their wife’s birthday, ”she laughs.

For her part, Sophie Bouchard was declared disabled following an accident. In order not to remain inactive, she developed this business project.

“We turned negative experiences into positive business plans. I felt like an old dead stump during my depression, but often on the old stumps there is a little green regrowth. Well, I am this regrowth and I have become a solid tree again with this business project. “

The businesswoman modified her house in Chambord to fit out her manufacturing workshop. An investment of nearly $ 80,000 was needed to set up the business.
