Jean-Luc Jarno presents his first work: the printed circuit of a home automation system (© Fabienne BOUTON)
Here is a work which stands out singularly in the world of painting of Honfleur (Calvado). Neither portrait, nor landscape, nor even abstract art, this painting represents the printed circuit of a home automation system …
But everything is explained when we examine the course of J km, whose real name is Jean-Luc Jarno. With a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in hand, he flew into the field of technological creation: a first computer, then automation projects as project manager in a large group, concepts and patents filed in the field of durable roller shutter automation. No doubt to have, Jean-Luc Jarno is a born technician.
Everything changes three years ago, when an artist friend marvels at the technical plans he draws and pushes him to make a painting. He is more or less retired, a new door opens: and why not embark on creation, this time artistic? This results in this very first work, which can be admired in the window of the studio of sculptor Christine Bellivier, who immediately trusted her.
Precise and meticulous drawings
To draw this electronic card, he had to position each component, determine the passages of each track, as well as their width, then write about 10,000 lines of machine program. This serigraph, printed in a maximum of 21 copies, is made on a linen canvas. To enhance it even more, the frame was imagined by the artist and executed by an artisan boilermaker. It is made of steel and weighs over 40 kg. The result is astonishing and cannot leave you indifferent. Art and technology are a perfect match! “I’m brand new in this area, and it makes me want to continue,” he explains, “but this painting is indeed the result of a lifetime’s experience…”
