When registration is possible

For those between the ages of eight and twelve who are thirsty for knowledge, the Children’s University starts again on April 5th, where experts from the Technical University of Dresden provide insights into their specialist areas. Online registration is possible from February 28, 8 a.m. Like the last time, the lectures will take place via video conference via Zoom.

Insights into botany and technology

The botanist Christoph Neinhuis will start the day. He explains what engineers can learn from plants and animals when looking for technical solutions, be it for locomotion or packaging materials. The second lecture is given by the historian Johannes Schütz on the concept of homeland. A look at history should help to understand this better.

Of robots and football

Linguist Simon Meier-Vieracker then addresses the question of whether football has its own language. He explains their properties and how computers can help in their exploration. At the last appointment, Stefanie Speidel will provide insights into the world of robots and their use in medicine. For example, the children learn how surgical procedures can be transferred to a robot using artificial intelligence.

The lectures will take place on April 5th and 12th and on May 3rd and 17th and start at 5.30 p.m. The Children’s University is a joint series of events organized by the German Hygiene Museum and the Technical University.
