It was quite a shock on Tuesday night for some people who thought they heard cries for help in Hapert. The summoned police came for nothing, because the shouting came from a slightly too fanatical gamer. Officers laughed about it afterwards. Five more cases in which the reality turned out to be slightly different than previously thought.
The most diverse reports are received at the central control room of the police. Most reports are usually correct, but occasionally agents are faced with surprises. In West Brabant, for example, a report of a burglar turned out to be incorrect. The resident of the house was about to go to bed and checked his phone in a dark room. That obviously looked suspicious from the street.
Man in need
The police in Waalwijk turned out with all the bells and whistles for a ‘man in distress’. The man reported to the police that he felt threatened by his girlfriend. It sounded so serious that the police turned out with no less than five cars and a helicopter. In the end, it all turned out to be very good. It ended with a fizzle.

Red-handed
A building site is off limits, even for couples in love. Agents in Tilburg thought they had a red-handed act. And in a sense it was. However, a couple in love had chosen the cabin of a crane for a love affair. When the couple noticed the officers, they came downstairs. According to the police, they were quite tipsy.

Burglar
After a report of a burglary at a construction site in Helmond, the police rushed to catch the perpetrator. It was spotted by security cameras. The man had a box of things with him, as can be seen on the images. However, the burglar turned out to be a Good Samaritan and had taken pity on an injured crow.

Drawn pistol
Officers removed two carnival celebrants from a car with a gun drawn at Werkendam. Passing motorists reported seeing people brandish guns in a car. When officers pulled over the car, they only saw that the dressed-up men had a fake weapon with them. They had to hand in the weapon and the jokers were allowed to continue in the polonaise.

Great urgency
A ‘burglar’ in dire need has scared the hell out of an agent in a business premises in Helmond. An officer responded to a burglary report and was shocked by a suspect in the toilet. Only it wasn’t a burglar, but a doll. According to the police, the suspect did not resist his arrest.

Call for help
And then that boy who screamed for help in Hapert. Neighbors heard him shouting and called the police. Officers rushed to the house. The boy was not in distress. He was so absorbed in the game ‘Grand Theft Auto 5’ that he went on a rampage. “There’s nothing wrong!”, according to the police.
