Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – As is known, the sun on Earth always appears from the east. But could it be the other way around?
A post on the Facebook page recently shocked the public. The reason is that the post contains news that the sun is carrying out unusual activities, rising from the west and making Earth close to the apocalypse.
The post was written in Thai and also appears in English. The sun, which usually appears from the east, does the opposite because the Earth rotates in the opposite direction.
Reportedly this happened because the Earth experienced a magnetic reversal. Even to support that information, reportedly the space agency from the United States (US), NASA also claimed the same thing.
“Earth will rotate in the opposite direction causing the Sun to emerge from the west side. Researchers believe that we are moving towards a magnetic field reversal that will mark the end of mankind and near the end of the world,” the claim reads.
But NASA denied the contents of the upload. Bettina Inclan, NASA’s Associate Administrator for Communications, said neither it nor any other organization made the claim.
“Neither NASA nor any other scientific organization predicts the Sun will rise from the west,” he explained.
Regarding the magnetic reversal, he called the phenomenon real and had happened. Scientists are also studying the phenomenon.
But according to him, the magnetic reversal makes the Earth spin in the opposite direction is wrong.
“The magnetic field reversal is indeed a real phenomenon that has occurred several times in the past and scientists around the world are studying it, but the statement that this causes the Earth to rotate in the opposite direction which causes the Sun to rise from the west is false,” Inclan said.
The phenomenon of the sunrise in the west is indeed real. This happens on the planet Venus and is caused by the planet rotating on its axis backwards.
Venus takes a long time to rotate which is 243 Earth days. While Venus takes 225 Earth days to circle the Sun, which means a day on the planet is slightly longer than a year.
This stark difference between the length of the day and the year also has an impact on the appearance of the Sun. On Venus, the sun rises per 117 Earth days, meaning only twice a year.
