Martha Tucker (94) dreamed of wearing a classic white wedding dress on her wedding day. She wanted an embroidered white dress with lace and long sleeves. But that was not possible. In Birmingham, Alabama in the 1950s, she could not even try such a dress.

– I did not think about the possibility because I knew I could not go into a salon, she says.
