As Latvia’s Independence Day approaches, the composer and musician in the fourth generation, Matīss Žilinskis, is creating the song “My Latvia”, which includes such popular Latvian musicians as Daumants Kalniņš, Ance Krauze, Intars Busulis, Raimonds Celms, guitarist Ainars Virars Thunder ”, Saulkrasti choir ANIMA and others.
The song “My Latvia” is like a message about what is deep in my heart as a Latvian. The idea for the song came to me during the national holiday in November, when flags were flying in the streets and there was a patriotic atmosphere, as well as joining the National Guard intensified my patriotic emotions, so I felt that I wanted to express them in music. Therefore, the lyrics of the song are about what is dear to me as a Latvian, ”says composer Matīss Žilinskis.
