Rock musician Jere Garcian I remember the turn of the year five years ago. His shoulder had been operated on a while before, which is why the man had to take strong painkillers.
Soon, Garcia felt her stomach ache and went to the hospital. The doctor estimated that there was too much pressure in Garcia’s intestines due to constipation. The musician’s condition improved for a while and the family was able to go to Spain.
In Spain, Garcia’s condition deteriorated rapidly.
– I had to be hospitalized for ten days. Nothing came out of me. I wasn’t even allowed to drink water for ten days, I had a dropper bottle. Even though I know Spanish, I didn’t really understand what it was about, Garcia recalls to Iltalehti.

On top of everything, Garcia got sick with corona, which scared the musician. His condition was already weak, so the fear of death crept into the man’s mind. Fortunately, Garcia’s symptoms were minor.
Stomach problems continued in Finland. For Garcia’s 9-year-old Melody-for the daughter, father’s illness was a difficult place.
– My daughter made me a painting “Father is resting”. That’s when I realized that I had started to wither away, and I had to seek surgery. I had lost twenty kilos because I didn’t want to eat anything. Every time I ate it hurt.
The musician was operated on in Jorvi Hospital. The risks were high, as Garcia’s intestines were in poor condition and inflamed as a result of the painkillers.
– Thirty centimeters of my colon was cut off.
The musician had to learn to eat again and observe which food is suitable for him. At first, the diet consisted of spinach soup, protein shakes, eggs and sushi.
Prolonged pains also affected mental well-being, and the withered appearance made the musician withdraw.
– People thought I had cancer. I didn’t want to see anyone because I didn’t want pity, Garcia recalls.

The power of music
Today, Garcia is in good health. Sometimes the troubles remind him of their existence, but regular lifestyles help him cope. According to the musician, it is important to avoid stress and watch your own diet.
– I don’t really eat sirloin steaks anymore. I eat chicken, fish and vegetables. Rice is very good because it has starch.
Garcia admits that tough experiences have taught him a lot.
– Health should be embraced and nurtured.
Music has been a significant asset for Garcia. Before he could undergo the demanding surgery, the musician stepped into his studio and positioned himself behind his microphone.
– I threw all the other people out of the studio and started singing my songs alone. The current of life passed through me, my body began to shake. I think that feeling of well-being got rid of my stress, Garcia reflects.

Five years of work
Previously, Garcia has become known for the bands Accu and Grease Helmet. However, for the past five years, the rock star has been working on his solo album, which is called short and concise Jere Garcia.
– At first I made 52 songs, they were either too much in the style of Grease Helmet or Accu, the musician laughs.
However, for Garcia it is not just “just a solo album”. For him, it’s proof that life eventually wins. The sorrows, pains and joys of five years have been poured into the album. The melodies of the songs combine the dark nuances of rock, funk and electronic music.

The album also reflects on the role of artificial intelligence in society. Garcia took advantage of artificial intelligence Machine God in the music video of his song. The rock star does not see artificial intelligence as a threat in the music business. For him, it appears as a useful tool in making music.
– If you make commercial music, your days are numbered. Artificial intelligence makes music in a few seconds, he says.
Garcia’s friends were surprised when the musician wanted to produce and mix his album himself. The rock star wanted to trust his own intuition.
– As I got sick, I learned that fear is the opposite of life.
