An increased range of trading can be an invaluable bonus in Pokemon GO, especially if the trainers have close friends who may not live an easy distance away. Being able to interact freely with others not only provides access to a greater opportunity to complete the full PokeDex, but also potentially forges better relationships with the local trainer community.

Plus, these regional exclusives certainly don’t hurt.

There have only been a few examples of increased market reach in Pokemon GO. The most recent of these took place during the Lunar New Year event in early February 2021. From there, coaches were able to enjoy an increased range of approximately 40 km (25 mi) to ‘on March 1. The previous maximum was about 100 m or 330 ft. .

Since then, however, there has been no word on another trade lineup increase event.

For those who do not know, trading is unlocked for all trainers at level 10. This function between trainers requires Stardust depending on the level of friend of trainers and whether the Pokémon in question is registered or not in their PokeDex. The higher the friendship, the less taxing the business. Having the Pokémon already registered greatly reduces stardust.

Of course, there are still limits to this. Some Pokémon cannot be traded such as Passed Out Pokémon, ones that still guard Gyms, ones referred to as Current Buddy, Shadow Pokémon, Mythical Pokémon, and – unsurprisingly – Eggs.
