White Week is a period established by King Juan Carlos I to compensate for the fact that local holidays coincide with summer. For example, the Malaga festival that coincides with the summer months in which school students are in non-school period. The people of Málaga therefore enjoyed fewer holidays than other communities that have their festivals during the school period. It is usually held the last week of February and early March, coinciding with Carnival. It is a non-school week for the non-university school calendar, in some communities.
Each educational center will be able to choose the days that are not school days. This year the period has been set between February 16 and 28. Madrid is the only community that has set non-school days, which will be February 24 and 27.
