Dwikorita said his party expected the peak of the 2024-2025 rainy season to occur between November and February.

According to BMKG, 303 seasonal zones (ZOM) or 43.45 percent of the country’s land will experience the peak of the rainy season between November and December. Areas that will experience the peak of the rainy season during this period include Sumatra Island, south coast Java and Kalimantan.

“However, there are also 250 seasonal zones or 35.77 percent of the seasonal zones that are expected to experience the peak of the rainy season in January-February 2025, namely Lampung, the northern part of Java Island, a small part of Sulawesi Island, Bali, West. Nusa Tenggara, East Nusa Tenggara, and most of Papua,” Dwikorita said in a press conference on Thursday (19/9). he.

Of the total 699 seasonal zones (ZOM), Dwikorita said 75 ZOM or 10.7 percent of the area entered the rainy season in September.

Then, 210 ZOM or 30.04 percent of the country’s land will enter the rainy season in October, while 181 ZOM or 25.9 percent of the land will enter the rainy season. rainy in November.

Then, there are 113 ZOM or 16.2 percent of areas that have a rainy season pattern that lasts throughout the year or are known as single season areas.

Generally, most parts of Indonesia will experience the rainy season from October to November.

“Compared to the average, the 2024-2025 rainy season will come earlier than usual,” said Dwikorita.

In addition, the nature of the 2024-2025 rainy season is expected to be in the normal category. This means that the conditions in this rainy season are neither too wet nor too dry.

Although generally normal, there are several areas that experience a wetter rainy season.

Dwikorita appealed to all parties, including ministries and institutions, regional governments, related organizations, and the entire community to be better prepared and anticipate the possibility of water disasters -rainfall during the rainy season in these areas.

“This area has the potential to experience increased risk from floods, flash floods and landslides, including strong winds and lightning. This must also be taken into account,” he explained.
