Thyroid It shows many pathological symptoms, and here we specifically mention the reasons why surgery is the only solution to treat the gland. In the case of hyperactivity of the gland, this patient is dealt with by subjecting him to treatment in an attempt to reduce the severity of the hyperactivity that has affected the gland. This was confirmed by Dr. Alaa El-Din Hussein, Professor of General Surgery. Oncology at the National Cancer Institute.

The professor of oncology surgery continued his talk to Al-Youm Al-Sabea, explaining that when treating hyperactivity of the thyroid gland, it may happen that this treatment fails to suppress this hyperactivity and the inability to control the hyperactivity, which may then necessitate surgery for the patient with hyperthyroidism.

Dr. Alaa El-Din added during his speech that cases of tumors forming on the thyroid gland are also one of the most important and inevitable reasons for performing surgery on the gland, as there is no alternative treatment for it in that case, so removing the tumor – whatever its type – in that case is the only solution to treat and control the problem, no matter what. Whether the blame was benign or malicious.

Neglecting surgery in cases that require surgery leads to an exacerbation of the problem. In the case of benign tumors, they will increase in size and may put pressure on the areas of the neck, speech nerves, pharynx, and trachea. The patient begins to feel difficulty breathing, changes in voice and speech, and problems swallowing, and the tumor may move into the chest cavity. It puts pressure on the lungs, but in a malignant tumor it spreads to the lymph nodes, lungs and neck, reducing recovery rates and making surgery difficult later.
