Muscle pain can occur as a result of injury, trauma, or excessive exercise, but can sometimes be a symptom of a more serious health problem.

“Consultation” reviews, in the following lines, a list of the most important health problems that muscle pain can indicate, according to the “Very well health” website.

1- Myofascial pain syndrome

Some people experience muscle pain as a symptom of a chronic condition called myofascial pain syndrome, which is a pain disorder that affects specific areas of the muscles, or constant stress and anxiety.

2- myositis

Myositis is a rare infection of muscle tissue and is usually caused by a bacterium called Staphylococcus aureus. It can cause cramps and pain within a muscle group, most often the thigh, calf, or buttock muscles. As the infection progresses, a fever may develop. There may be an abscess visibly protruding from the muscle under the skin. If left untreated, the infection can spread to other organs, such as the heart, lungs, and brain.

3- Infections

Some types of infections, especially viral infections, can cause muscle pain. Perhaps the most common cause is the flu, which can cause general muscle pain. Other infections that can cause muscle pain include:

Lyme disease.

– Malaria.

Dengue fever.

Trichomoniasis.

4- fibromyalgia

Widespread muscle pain is a symptom of fibromyalgia. The pain of this chronic disorder is often described as a tingling or burning sensation. The cause of fibromyalgia is unknown, but it is thought to include genetic factors, mood disorders, past illnesses, and chemical imbalances that cause increased pain sensation.

In addition to muscle pain, people with fibromyalgia often have difficulty sleeping, fatigue, muscle stiffness in the morning, and depression, which is more likely than women.

Chronic fatigue syndrome, also known as encephalomyelitis, is a disorder that causes extreme fatigue that does not improve with rest, as well as fatigue and a general feeling of malaise.

6- rheumatic muscle pain

Polymyalgia rheumatica is an inflammatory condition typically seen in adults between the ages of 60 and 70 that causes morning pain and stiffness in the shoulders, upper arms, hips, thighs, and back of the neck. Fatigue, weight loss, poor appetite, and fever can also occur.

7- Rheumatoid arthritis

Rheumatoid arthritis is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects the joints, however rheumatoid arthritis can also cause muscle pain.

Autoimmune disorders occur when the immune system attacks its own cells or tissues. Muscle pain due to rheumatoid arthritis is generally felt throughout the body.

8- lupus erythematosus

SLE is a chronic autoimmune disease that affects nearly every organ in the body, including the skin, brain, eyes, mouth, lungs, heart, kidneys, intestines, and joints.
