when Casablanca stands up to Mohammed VI

The King of Morocco, Mohammed VI

The administrative and disciplinary sanctions imposed by the Moroccan authorities have so far failed to convince the inhabitants of Casablanca who are still standing up to King Mohammed VI. Why ?

Casablanca, a Moroccan city, is crumbling under the weight of the Coronavirus disease which seems to have established its neighborhoods there. On its own, the city counts, at least, 300 cases of Coronavirus, every day. The disease continues its dangerous spread there, to the point of undermining all the efforts until then made by the Moroccan authorities. While the king has made all arrangements to contain the disease and defeat it as quickly as possible, six months of fighting tend to be in vain.

The passage through the kingdom of a daily production of 500,000 masks to seven million units will not have served much. Moroccan investments, in terms of drugs, various commodities, to help contain the disease seem to go up in smoke. Best student on the continent at the very beginning of the pandemic, Morocco, which has gone so far as to teach France how to manage an epidemic, now seems to be lagging behind. The virus is still present and well installed.

In this lot of damage and inconvenience, one city stands out: Casablanca. Yes, Casablanca again. Always Casablanca. History has shown that this city, due to a notorious lack of discipline on the part of certain populations, remains the pilot of this crazy machine. The very system that keeps the virus in Morocco. The city of Casablanca has finally become a giant cluster of Covid-19, despite all the royal arrangements and all the sacrifices of the medical profession.

However, in the past, King Mohammed VI validated the suspension of the head of the administrative annex Ain Chock in Casablanca for “non-intervention” to enforce the state of health emergency measures. But nothing helped. This disciplinary sanction, imposed by the Royal Cabinet on an authority which represents a potential danger, which threatens the stability of an entire country, has not produced the results hoped for.

Casablanca continues to adopt a behavior of distrust towards the Moroccan authorities. Until when ? That’s the whole point. In the meantime, here are the details of the contaminations by region, this Saturday, August 22, 2020. Take a look at the position of Casablanca.
