When Ahok predicts gas stations will be ‘vacant’ in 5 years

Jakarta

President Commissioner of PT Pertamina (Persero) Basuki Tjahaja Purnama alias Ahok predicting that in the next 5 years it is estimated that the Public Fuel Filling Stations (SPBU) will be deserted. How could that be?

Ahok estimates that in the next five years there will be the development of the electric motor vehicle industry. So this is a threat to Pertamina, because so far the gas stations have been dominated by these two-wheeled vehicles.

Ahok assessed that the demand for fuel would decline along with the development of the electric vehicle industry.

“I’m sure it won’t take 5 years for motorcycles to replace electric vehicles, that is if there is a low-interest loan. I think gas stations can be empty immediately because most of the gas station operations are filled with motorbikes,” he said. Ahok at the DBSI Spring Festival, last Thursday (10/2/2022).

In the future, there will also be cheap credit for the purchase of electric motorcycles. Well, that’s why people may prefer to use electric batteries for electric vehicles. “Our experience is that if they don’t go out of town, they just charge at home,” said Ahok.

Pertamina is said to have really thought about the gas station business that it currently relies on. He asked the state-owned energy sector to start building supply chain logistics.

“At least we control retail data, not only oil products, there is lubricant, there are others as well. But more important is the supply change logistics network, I think it will be like that in the future,” said Ahok.
