The latest addition to the Ford family can be classified as one of the most extreme and powerful vehicles ever presented by the American automaker. In the USA, the F-150 Raptor R pick-up will be launched on the market, which further improves and increases the already extreme values within this segment.

The R version, for example, received a V8 engine modified by the Shelby company from the regular Raptor, which can be found, for example, in the Mustang Shelby GT500. In the configuration found in the Raptor R, the engine produces 700 horsepower and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in under 5 seconds, reportedly around the same time as a Porsche 911.

In addition, the Raptor R received from the designers a newly tuned supercharger to increase the torque at low and medium speeds, a new exhaust pipe made of stainless steel, a deeper oil sump, a new oil cooler and also a filter.

All this means that the car can cool itself better even in harsh off-road environments. In short, the Raptor R, as one of the few super SUVs, promises fast driving even off the road.

The improvement in off-road characteristics is also enhanced by the fact that the R version has a reinforced front axle or a more durable drive shaft. But the engineers also looked at the rear part, where they lengthened the trailing arms for the five-link rear suspension and improved the Fox shock absorbers.

Last but not least, experts at Ford have revised the settings of the ten-speed automatic transmission, which can now better handle the giant power. In short, Ford has invested every effort to ensure that the novelty is well prepared for the massive amount of horses under the hood and is also competitive against racing off-road vehicles.

Ford has already started accepting orders for the Raptor R in the US and has committed to the first deliveries at the end of this year. Apart from technology, the car differs from the standard Raptor with a more aggressive bodykit, black details and the R lettering. The novelty will probably not arrive on the European market.
